 Susan Airst J.D. Executive Managing Director, Investment and Development Email
Susan Airst (Susan Stann Airst) has many years of experience in large scale commercial real estate and mixed-use projects. She has years of supervisory and
management involvement in multimillion dollar, large scale redevelopments (up to approximately 25 million current U.S. market value per acquisition price),
negotiations, partnership structure, acquisitions and dispositions. These projects include Fortune 500 and other large scale sites, such as a former GE facility,
power plant, hotel conversion, chemical facility, aluminum products manufacturing site, garment warehouses for redevelopment into commercial business parks,
retail, residential and mixed-use developments. She has drafted, reviewed, negotiated and been a signing authority for a wide variety of agreements of sale,
ground leases, dispositions, retail leases as well as other documentation pertaining to complex commercial real
estate. She has selected and assembled numerous development teams for large scale projects, led strategic
plans; built alliances with public and private stakeholders; supervised project teams; and has been the lead contact
for many lenders and financial institutions. Mrs. Airst’s activities include assembly and management of a
nationwide network of strategic alliances, including brokers, developers, experts, and other teams for the acquisition, redevelopment, leasing, and disposition of sites.
Mrs. Airst actively supports policies and those respected organizations which promote sustainable development
practices; workforce & affordable housing; protection of wildlife and natural resources; green building policies;
utilization of brownfields and land for the development of renewable energy resources; utility and waste
management cost reductions; and other important public policies. Mrs. Airst is also an Executive Managing
Director of Airst Stann, a privately-owned real estate investment, development and services firm. Prior to ALR, Mrs.
Airst was an Executive Vice President of a large commercial investment and development company in the
Northeast. Prior to this position, she worked with various law firms and a family-owned real estate investment company.
Mrs. Airst’s honors, past and present affiliations include: Nomination for Who’s Who in American Women, United
States; Distinguished Alumnae, Dominican University; Member, Urban Land Institute; Member, National Association of Female Executives and other financially-related associations.
She has been a public speaker at many conferences for organizations. She is a past and current author of articles
in national and international publications including Environmental Protection regular column “Business Talk;” BNA’s
Environmental Due Diligence Guide, Washington D.C. She is also the editor/co-author of book on urban/suburban
revitalization and real estate related issues and is currently writing a book on real estate redevelopment issues in the United States.
Mrs. Airst’s education includes: DePaul University School of Law, Chicago, IL, Juris Doctor where she was active
in Moot Court and invited to write for Law Review, while involved in real estate investment and redevelopment
activities as an entrepreneur; Dominican University, (Rosary) River Forest, IL, Bachelor or Arts, Business
Administration Bachelor of Arts, Communications Arts and Sciences; Oxford University, London, England,
International Undergraduate Studies Program; Loyola University Law School, Chicago, International Law Studies Program.
Outside of ALR, Mrs. Airst enjoys family and friends. She is an active supporter of her local church, schools,
worthy community organizations including the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and Philadelphia Museum of
Art, 1000’s Friends of Pennsylvania, various underpriviliged children’s non-organizations, and other respected initiatives.
