Mr. Airst is a recognized expert in commercial real estate and legal issues with substantial experience of over 20 years. His experience encompasses a broad range of matters including business transactional matters; litigation; corporate and business law; real estate; zoning and land use; acquisitions, dispositions and leasing; risk management and insurance; underwriting, title, and closing; environmental law; public and private capital formation; deal structure and equity partnerships. He is a seasoned supervisor of development, sales and leasing teams, attorneys, professionals and staff, as well as regularly interfaces with a variety of stakeholders including regulatory and political entities.

With ALR, Mr. Airst’s duties and responsibilities include a wide variety of issues including acquisitions and deal structure; rezoning and development; legal representation before judicial and administrative bodies; the legal analysis of complex documentation including leases and ancillary mortgage-related documentation as well as many other matters. For example, Mr. Airst has been involved in the drafting, negotiation and signing of a plethora of agreements of sale, leases, and other complex real estate related documentation for private, public and Fortune 100 companies, including a REIT with over 50 shopping malls in the United States.

In addition to ALR and numerous consulting assignments for major law firms and corporations, Mr. Airst was the General Counsel for Development and Real Estate Investment for the Phladelphia Housing Authority (PHA) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. PHA, a public agency, is the largest landlord in Pennsylvania and fourth largest housing authority in the United States, housing over 80,000 people. It owns approximately 7,000 properties, with over 1.2 billion dollars in real estate development. Mr. Airst worked directly with the Executive Director and Senior Deputy Executive Director.

Mr. Airst also serves as a Senior Managing Director of Airst Stann. Prior to the aforementioned, Mr. Airst was President and founder of Raloa, a privately-held real estate investment and development company, while completing law school and subsequently.

Mr. Airst past and present affiliations include: a Faculty Member of New York University’’s Real Estate Institute as well as other respected institutions; Legislative Committee, Philadelphia Apartment Owners Association; Member of the Executive Environmental Committee, International Right of Way Association; National instructor for ASTM Environmental Site Assessment Standards; Member, Philadelphia Bar Association; Public speaker for numerous respected associations including the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Air & Waste Management Association, National Ground Water Association, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, International Right of Way Association, Western Engineers Society of PA.

Mr. Airst is an author of articles in national and international publications, such as IREM, Urban Land, Commercial Real Estate, Journal of Multistate Taxation, Wharton Business School Real Estate Newsletter, Right of Way, Bureau of National Affairs, Washington DC, Environmental Due Diligence Guide, and the regular popular  column “Business Talk” in the magazine Environmental Protection. He is the author of a book published by Cahners and Andrew Publications which deals with real estate development issues for challenged properties, such as brownfields. Mr. Airst has been a guest on radio and quoted in publications such as the New York Times.

Mr. Airst’s education includes: Pace University Law School, White Plains, New York, Masters of Law, Environmental Law and Regulation; John Marshall Law School, Chicago, Illinois, Juris Doctorate of Law
Georgetown University Law School in Securities Law Studies; Washington D.C.

He is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and is admitted to practice before the PA Supreme Court. He is eligible for limited license practice in various states in the U.S.

Outside of ALR and other work, Mr. Airst enjoys family and friends and is an active supporter of worthy community causes and non-profit organizations.
